History
Defined by Kanye West's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' (2010), recorded in a Hawaii-studio camp with dozens of collaborators and praised by critics as the apex of the maximalist approach - soul, prog-rock, opera and electronics fused track by track. It reset ambition for big-budget rap albums and influenced a wave of dense, layered, all-star productions.
