Organized-crime fantasy rap dressed in Italian-mob iconography: kingpins, dons, Cristal, Cuban links and Goodfellas/Scarface nods. Built on lush, cinematic boom-bap — soul and jazz loops, string stabs, film-dialogue samples — under dense, novelistic verses casting the rapper as a mob boss running heists, betrayals and lavish criminal empires.
History
Kool G Rap pioneered the mob-narrative style in the late 80s; it exploded in 1995 with Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., AZ's Doe or Die and G Rap's 4,5,6. Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt (1996) and Nas's It Was Written extended it, with the Escobar persona and The Firm turning crime-thriller plotting and luxury obsession into a defining New York aesthetic.
