Lo-Fi Jazz Rap

Lo-fi jazz rap keeps MCs in the picture but wraps them in dusty jazz loops, softened drums, vinyl wear, and a more intimate, less confrontational mix than classic boom-bap. The flow often feels conversational and nocturnal, with enough melodic warmth that the track can drift toward meditation without losing its head-nod function.
History
The substyle came from the overlap between jazzy underground rap and the lo-fi beat world that grew around Nujabes, instrumental hip-hop, and internet music communities. Over time it became both a genuine artistic lane and a playlist bucket, covering everything from mellow independent rappers to beatmakers who invited minimal, introspective voices onto their jazz-tinted loops.
