Hotter and more percussion-forward than Anglo dance-pop, with a hip-swinging clave underneath the chorus.
History
Sparked by the late-90s Latin pop crossover (Ricky Martin, Shakira) and supercharged when reggaeton and tropical house fused with pop in the 2010s. Enrique Iglesias's 'Bailando' and the global smash 'Despacito' pushed dembow-driven Latin dance-pop onto worldwide charts, making it one of streaming's dominant dance strains.
