Laid-Back Country Pop is soft-focus country-pop with coastal or easy-living mood: relaxed tempos, smooth choruses, gentle acoustic strum, and adult-contemporary warmth. It is less explicitly tropical than Gulf and Western, but shares its aversion to hurry.

History

Buffett helped define the mode, but later country-pop artists broadened it into a general mellow summer-adult format. The style thrives when country wants to sound expensive, easy, and sunlit without having to shout about beer or heartbreak.
