Idol-pop records structured around dedicated rap lines: hard-hitting verses from a group's rappers traded with sung pop hooks, over genre-hopping, maximalist production. Trap hi-hats, EDM drops, brass stabs and key changes collide; the rap delivers swagger and momentum between polished, anthemic choruses engineered for global fandom and chart crossover.

History

K-pop's rapper-vocalist division goes back to early idol groups, but it sharpened when hip-hop-rooted acts like BTS and BIGBANG foregrounded their rap lines around 2013. BTS's Suga, RM and J-Hope made rap central to global No. 1s, and BLACKPINK's Lisa and Jennie pushed it further, making rap a structural pillar of crossover K-pop. Cross-listed with K-Pop / Idol Pop.
