Jungle Rave is the point where rave's breakbeat hardcore mutated into reggae-infused jungle: chopped Amen breaks, ragga vocals, dub bass, sirens, rewinds, and pirate-radio urgency. It keeps rave's euphoria and speed but adds sound-system weight and sharper rhythmic complexity. The sound is transitional, sitting between old-school rave and drum and bass.

History

Jungle grew out of UK rave, breakbeat hardcore, Jamaican sound-system culture, dub, dancehall, hip-hop, and pirate radio. Shy FX & UK Apachi, M-Beat & General Levy, Congo Natty, DJ Hype, Omni Trio, Leviticus, Remarc, DJ SS, Origin Unknown, Dead Dred, and Roni Size became key reference points. The mainstream success of "Original Nuttah" and "Incredible" showed that the rave offshoot had become its own national sound.
