Jump-Up

Jump-up is DnB’s rude, hooky bruiser: wobbling bass riffs, punchline drops, simple crowd-memory hooks, and drums arranged for immediate bodily reaction. It is less subtle than liquid or techstep and proudly so; etiquette is not the point.

History

The sound began in the 1990s as a more dancefloor-direct branch of jungle/DnB, then returned in bigger, brasher forms in the 2010s and 2020s. DJ Hazard, Original Sin, Serum, Taxman, Turno, and Amplify are among the key figures in its modern face, especially in rave and festival contexts.
