Jersey Club

Jersey Club is Newark and wider New Jersey's high-energy club style, famous for the "bed squeak" kick pattern, chopped R&B and rap hooks, triplet bounce, vocal commands, and stop-start edits that leave dancers room to respond. It is faster and more syncopated than Baltimore club, but it keeps Baltimore's breakbeat DNA and direct party function. The sound can be raw Brick Bandits club music, glossy R&B flips, or rap-facing Jersey drill, but the bounce is always the identity.
History
Jersey Club began as Brick City club music around Newark at the turn of the 2000s, with DJ Tameil and the Brick Bandits extending Baltimore club into a local language. DJ Tim Dolla, Mike V, DJ Black Mic, DJ Jayhood, and DJ Lilman built the early infrastructure, while DJ Sliink, UNIIQU3, Nadus, R3LL, Trippy Turtle, 4B, Cookiee Kawaii, Bandmanrill, and MCVertt pushed it into festivals, rap, R&B, TikTok, and global club sets. Its 2020s visibility came from viral dance records and major rap/pop uses, but the style remains rooted in Newark's teen parties, dance crews, and producer networks.
