Jam Roots Rock starts with roots-rock songs and then opens them up—long solos, live reinvention, groove cycling, and set-by-set elasticity. It is less bluegrass-oriented than jamgrass and less psychedelic than full jamband rock, but equally devoted to live expansion.
History
The Allman Brothers supplied the deep template, and later acts like Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule, North Mississippi Allstars, and Tedeschi Trucks Band kept the roots-and-jam overlap thriving. The songs stay rooted in blues, country, and Southern or heartland rock even when the solos take the long road.
