History
Born when the Grateful Dead's San Francisco ballroom sets and the Allman Brothers' 1971 'At Fillmore East' proved long-form rock improvisation could anchor a career. Cream and the Dead's free-form passages set the model; the Allmans codified the twin-guitar jam. These records became the bedrock every later jam act studied.
