Indie Bedroom Pop

The indie-leaning core of bedroom pop: jangly or chorus-soaked electric guitars, soft programmed or live drums, and breathy, conversational vocals over wistful chord changes. Cleaner than pure lo-fi but still hand-made and unhurried, it carries the lyrical introspection and lovesick mood of indie pop into the laptop bedroom-recording era.
History
This strand grew from indie pop's DIY wing meeting cheap home gear. Around 2017, self-produced viral hits from Boy Pablo, Clairo, and girl in red defined the look and feel; festival circuits and Spotify playlists like Bedroom Pop gave the sound a name. Many of these artists were teenagers uploading from their childhood rooms before label deals.
