Tongue-in-cheek horror-themed rock that plays monsters, zombies, and B-movie gore for laughs as much as scares. History
Spun out of the Misfits' early-1980s horror-punk, the comic strain bloomed via Sacramento's Groovie Ghoulies, who fused Ramones speed with monster-movie fun. Britain's Zombina and the Skeletones and Arizona's Calabrese carried the campy, B-movie-loving sound into the 2000s, keeping affectionate horror parody alive on the punk underground.
