Hi-Tech Psytrance
Located in 1 route
Hi-Tech Psytrance accelerates psytrance into hyper-detailed speed: 170-plus BPM basslines, cartoonish FM leads, glitch bursts, sudden tempo pressure, elastic drops, and sound design that can feel comic, alien, or violently futuristic. It is faster and more synthetic than darkpsy but usually less punishing than psycore. The style is often playful at the same time it is technically extreme.
History
Hi-tech developed from darkpsy, night full-on, Russian and European fast psytrance, and producers who treated digital editing as the main thrill. Crazy Astronaut, Technical Hitch, Yaminahua, Kashyyyk, Will O Wisp, Gotalien, OxiDaksi, Popek, Mentalecho, Sonic System, Yuxibu, Acajou, Ixotul & Flowrest, and Kamino/Multidimensional-style labels made the sound recognizable. It became a staple of late-night and post-sunrise festival programming where speed itself becomes part of the psychedelic effect.
