Heartland Americana

Heartland Americana keeps the blue-collar, regional, open-road concerns of heartland rock but with more visible roots instrumentation and Americana framing. It is less stadium-bombastic than peak 1980s heartland rock and often more rural or small-town in texture.
History
As heartland rock declined as a commercial term, many of its strongest traits migrated into Americana. The result is music that still obsesses over wages, towns, factories, highways, and belonging, but sounds more roots-oriented and less arena-calibrated.
