Hardcore Techno is the original techno/rave form of hardcore: very fast BPMs, distorted 909/808 kicks, hoovers, acid lines, rave samples, and an anti-smooth attitude. It predates the more specialized labels of gabber, industrial hardcore, Frenchcore, and uptempo. The sound feels like techno stripped of restraint and rave pushed into overload.
History
Hardcore techno emerged from Frankfurt, Rotterdam, Belgium, the UK, and US industrial/techno scenes as producers accelerated rave's machinery. Marc Acardipane, Mescalinum United, Lenny Dee, PCP, Euromasters, Rotterdam Termination Source, DJ Paul Elstak, The Prophet, Neophyte, The Mover, Alec Empire, and 3 Steps Ahead made the early vocabulary. It is the root language behind most later hardcore dance branches.
