Hard House is fast, tough, riff-driven house music with pounding kicks, hoover stabs, snare rolls, cheeky samples, and euphoric breakdowns. It is rooted in house structure but pushes energy toward hard trance and rave. The sound was made for UK superclubs, after-hours rooms, and big-room hard-dance floors.
History
Hard house grew from UK club culture, Trade, Tidy Trax, Nukleuz, React, Tinrib, and DJs/producers who intensified house and trance for late-1990s floors. Tony De Vit, Lisa Lashes, BK, Tidy Boys, Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, Anne Savage, Karim, Rachel Auburn, Lab 4, Steve Thomas, and Fergie became key names. Although its commercial peak passed, hard house remains a strong nostalgia and specialist scene.
