Hands Up is the high-energy 2000s Eurodance branch with supersaw riffs, pitched vocal chops, trance-pop breakdowns, rolling bass, and choruses built for raised hands. It is more synthetic and relentless than classic Eurodance, but more pop-accessible than hardstyle or hard trance. The emotional tone is usually euphoric, sentimental, and extremely direct.

History

Hands Up emerged from German and Central European dance scenes, connecting Eurodance, hard trance, happy hardcore, Clubland, and ringtone-era pop. Cascada, Basshunter, Manian, Special D., Rocco, Groove Coverage, Italobrothers, Rob Mayth, Tune Up!, Jan Wayne, Megastylez, and Pulsedriver defined much of the sound. Its internet afterlife is unusually strong because nightcore, YouTube compilations, and nostalgia edits kept the tempo and melodic language alive.
