Halftime DnB

Halftime DnB keeps the sound design and bass weight of drum & bass but spaces the drum accents into a slower-feeling half-step grid. The result is still bass-driven and often 170ish in session tempo, but it lopes rather than sprints.

History

The style emerged as producers mined hip-hop swing, experimental bass music, and deeper DnB aesthetics for a less frenetic but equally heavy dance language. Om Unit, Ivy Lab, Alix Perez, Fracture, Sam Binga, and Monty all helped define its modern underground identity.
