History
Blossomed in the mid-90s as the Gin Blossoms, Everclear and the Goo Goo Dolls paired grunge-era guitar grit with pure pop craft. Everclear's Art Alexakis turned hard-luck stories into hummable hits; the Goo Goo Dolls evolved from punk toward chiming pop. Harvey Danger and Marcy Playground rode ironic hooks onto modern-rock radio, softening grunge for Top 40 before late-90s pop shifts.
