Gospel R&B-Rap blends smooth contemporary-gospel and R&B textures with hip-hop, pairing rapped verses with soulful sung hooks, live-feel keys, and warm bass. Production draws on neo-soul chords, gospel organ, choir stacks, and laid-back drums rather than hard trap, giving a groove-forward, church-soul feel. Vocals shift between rap and rich R&B singing, often within one track. The mood is soulful, worshipful, and grown, bridging the rap world and the gospel-soul tradition.

History

Gospel R&B-rap grew where Christian hip-hop met contemporary and urban gospel in the 2000s and 2010s, as rappers collaborated with gospel and R&B singers and adopted soul-driven production. Andy Mineo's soul-leaning cuts, Social Club Misfits' hook-heavy songs, and features between CHH artists and gospel vocalists like Mali Music defined the blend, while producers steeped in gospel harmony shaped the sound. It cross-lists with the gospel-soul/R&B family and represents the smoothest, most soulful side of Christian rap.
