Gospel Afropop

Worship and praise sung in Afropop's idiom: rolling Afrobeats and highlife grooves, warm percussion and gospel choir harmonies under soaring lead vocals declaring faith in English, pidgin, Yoruba or Igbo. Ranges from anthemic congregational praise to intimate worship ballads, with big builds, hand-claps and call-and-response devotion.
History
Nigerian and broader African gospel adopted contemporary Afropop and highlife production through the 2000s-2010s. Sinach's 'Way Maker' (2015) became a global church anthem covered worldwide; Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey and Frank Edwards built large followings blending praise energy with Afrobeats-flavored arrangements and modern radio polish.
