Ghetto House is raw Chicago house stripped down to jacking drums, simple basslines, dirty call-and-response vocals, and relentless party loops. It is faster, raunchier, and more functional than deep or soulful house, with little interest in polish or long harmonic development. The sound is built for bodies first: fast kicks, commands, jokes, and chants that push dancers into direct response.

History

Ghetto House grew from Chicago's early-1990s house scene, especially Dance Mania and producers who turned jack tracks into rougher, faster, more explicit club tools. DJ Deeon, DJ Funk, DJ Slugo, DJ Milton, Jammin Gerald, Paul Johnson, DJ Rush, Parris Mitchell, DJ Clent, and Robert Armani shaped the style, which directly fed juke and footwork. Its influence resurged through European club revival, electroclash, techno, ghettotech, and contemporary hard, raw house edits.
