The ongoing project of resurrecting 60s garage and punk sound on purpose: Vox and Farfisa organs, Rickenbacker jangle, fuzz pedals, reverbed shouts and matching mod or beatnik looks. Recorded deliberately rough on vintage gear. More reverent and curatorial than the original amateurs, but every bit as loud.
History
Crystallized in the early 80s as bands like The Fleshtones, The Lyres and The Chesterfield Kings rebuilt the Nuggets sound, fueled by reissue labels and the Paisley Underground. Estrus, Crypt and In the Red kept the underground burning through the 90s with Detroit's garage-soul scene before the 2000s mainstream wave.
