History

Bill and Gloria Gaither shaped modern Southern gospel first through hit songs like 'Because He Lives' (1971) and 'He Touched Me,' then through the Gaither Vocal Band (formed in the early 1980s) and, decisively, the Gaither Homecoming video and concert series launched in 1991. The Homecoming phenomenon reunited golden-age legends, sold millions of videos, filled arenas, and revived the entire genre for a new audience, making the Gaither brand synonymous with Southern gospel's mainstream. It remains the dominant institution in the field.
