Future Pop is pop songwriting built with future bass, PC Music, hyper-digital synths, pitched vocals, and elastic electronic drops. It keeps verses, choruses, hooks, and star personas at the center while replacing rock-band or standard dance-pop backing with synthetic gloss and bass-music dynamics. The sound can be sweet, surreal, metallic, or euphoric, but it is always pop-facing rather than purely club-functional.

History

Future Pop emerged as future bass crossed into streaming pop and PC Music reframed pop as a hyperreal electronic object. SOPHIE, A. G. Cook, QT, Charli XCX, Flume, Mura Masa, Cashmere Cat, Lido, and related producers made the sound a bridge between underground digital pop and mainstream dance features. Its ideas later fed hyperpop, K-pop production, alt-pop, advertising sync music, and the brighter side of festival future bass.
