History
Born where mid-'70s funk bands met the dancefloor, sharpening their grooves for clubs without dissolving into pure machine disco. Chic's clipped guitar-and-bass interplay, KC's party anthems and Kool & the Gang's horn-driven hits defined a danceable, hook-heavy R&B that bridged funk's grit and disco's gloss across the late '70s.
