Classic rock with acoustic and folk roots: ringing 12-string and acoustic guitars, close vocal harmonies, mandolin and pedal-pleasing fingerpicking woven into full-band arrangements. Songs lean on melody, lyric and harmony as much as riff, balancing pastoral acoustic textures with electric lift. Cross-listed into Folk Rock / Acoustic Rock.

History

Born when folk songwriters and harmony groups plugged in during the mid-60s, fusing acoustic traditions with rock rhythm sections. Through the early 70s its acoustic-leaning ballads and harmony anthems became staples of FM and the album canon, the gentler, melody-first counterweight to the era's heavier rock.
