Fiddle Swing puts the fiddler at the center of swing-country motion, using sliding intonation, jazzy phrasing, harmonized lines, and rhythmic bow attack over dance grooves. It sits between hot string-band playing and jazz soloing, often sounding both elegant and barnstorming at once.
History
Western swing elevated the fiddle from rustic lead instrument to fully modern dance-band voice, especially through Bob Wills ensembles and players such as Johnny Gimble. The style later shaped Texas fiddling, western-swing revival groups, contest circuits, and twin-fiddle country arrangements.
