Eurotrance turns trance into radio-friendly pop spectacle: bright melodies, faster happy-sad chord changes, obvious vocal hooks, and a glossy, compact structure. It is a cousin of Eurodance and commercial trance, designed to blow through speakers in a small hatchback at illegal confidence levels.
History
The style took shape as continental European dance-pop and anthem trance converged around the turn of the millennium. Alice Deejay, Fragma, Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, 4 Strings, and DJ Sammy turned trance signifiers into crossover hits, and the sound remains a major nostalgia and revival format.
