Euro House is the house-rooted side of early Eurodance: piano riffs, diva vocals, rap sections, breakbeats, organ stabs, and accessible club structures. It is less cartoonish than bubblegum dance and usually more house-coded than later hands-up or trance-pop. Many tracks sit at the boundary where house, hip-house, rave, and pop radio all met.
History
Euro House grew from late-1980s house, Italo house, Belgian new beat, hip-house, and UK/continental club crossover. Technotronic, Black Box, Snap!, C+C Music Factory, Robin S., Crystal Waters, Nightcrawlers, Livin' Joy, Deee-Lite, Real McCoy, 2 Unlimited, and Corona each shaped a radio-friendly version of house's club language. The style set up the 1990s Eurodance boom by proving that house hooks and dance production could move massive pop audiences.
