Euro Bubblegum Pop

Sugary, ultra-catchy continental pop aimed at teens and families: cartoonish hooks, candy-bright synths, novelty lyrics, and bouncy Eurodance-lite beats. Vocals are cheerful and often duet-driven, with playful call-and-response refrains. Deliberately lightweight and irresistibly hummable, it pushes maximum cheer and zero pretension straight to the chart.
History
Spinning out of mid-90s Eurodance and Europop, bubblegum acts like Denmark's Aqua and Sweden's groups packaged the sound as glossy, kid-friendly novelty pop. 'Barbie Girl' became a global phenomenon in 1997; Eiffel 65 and Vengaboys piled on party anthems. The candy-pop wave dominated European charts before fading mid-2000s.
