History
The style emerged after post-dubstep and indie electronic softened the borders between home listening and club music, while UK bass, deep house, and melodic techno producers embraced more openly sentimental harmonic language. Bicep, Ross From Friends, DJ Seinfeld, George FitzGerald, Bonobo, Fred again.., Overmono, Kelly Lee Owens, and Jon Hopkins helped make tear-streaked synths, sampled voices, and rave nostalgia central to modern club storytelling. Emotional Club is less a single scene than a widely recognized mood across festivals, Boiler Room culture, streaming playlists, and live electronic concerts.
