History
The classic era begins with "Planet Rock" and quickly expands through New York, LA, Detroit, and label networks that pressed extended 12-inches for clubs and street dance. Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force, Hashim, Newcleus, Man Parrish, Egyptian Lover, Cybotron, Jonzun Crew, Warp 9, Twilight 22, Herbie Hancock, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, and Freestyle created a durable set of old-school standards. Reissue culture and electro revival scenes keep the canon active.
