Festival-scaled fusion of hip-hop trap and electronic dance music: booming 808s and triplet hi-hats meet rave synths, big-room build-ups, breakdowns and explosive halftime drops. Largely instrumental and producer-driven, threaded with chopped vocal samples, pitched-down chants, air-horn stabs and snare rolls. Built for main-stage raves and clubs.
History
Coalesced in the early 2010s as producers fused Southern trap drums with big-room house dynamics. Baauer's "Harlem Shake" (2012) went viral worldwide; TNGHT's debut EP sharpened the maximalist template, and Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Carnage and Yellow Claw drove the sound. The 2013 "All Trap Music" compilation plus Ultra Music Festival sets cemented it as a festival staple.
