Easy Rock
Located in 1 route
Easy Rock is the broad soft edge of mainstream rock: clean guitars, steady drums, accessible piano, gentle harmonies, restrained solos, and choruses that privilege comfort over confrontation. Tempos usually range from 65 to 120 BPM, with relaxed attack and warm mixes. It keeps rock's band identity while reducing volume, bite, and rebellion until the song can pass safely through an office lobby.
History
The style consolidated as AM Top 40, FM album rock, and adult contemporary began sharing artists in the 1970s. Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, America, Bread, Chicago, Elton John, Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Christopher Cross, and Air Supply made records that reached rock listeners while remaining easy enough for adult radio. Easy Rock became a durable programming category and shaped light rock, Hot AC, soft rock oldies, and the mainstream expectation that rock bands could also deliver gentle adult hits.
