History
A Queensbridge/Brooklyn-led renaissance crystallized around Nas's Illmatic, Mobb Deep's The Infamous and Wu-Tang Clan in 1994-95, reasserting East Coast dominance against the West. DJ Premier, Havoc and RZA defined its sound, fusing crime narrative with technical lyricism into the era's grimiest street canon.
