Dub Tech is the club-DJ shorthand for dubby minimal house and deep tech: short chord hits, subby bass, stripped percussion, echo sends, dry grooves, and long, functional arrangements. Compared with dub techno it is usually lighter, groovier, and closer to house tempo; compared with dub house it is sparer and more tool-like.

History

The sound sits between Berlin minimal, UK tech house, Romanian afterhours, Detroit dub techno, and deep-house labels. Swayzak, Deadbeat, Soul Capsule, STL, Cab Drivers, Steve O'Sullivan, Ion Ludwig, Sascha Dive, Mike Shannon, Akufen, D'Julz, Basic Channel followers, and later East European minimal producers all shaped the lane. It became a practical category for DJs who wanted dub texture without leaving the house/minimal-tech floor.
