History
Coalesced in Russia in the late 2010s as producers like Kaito Shoma, Pharmacist and Ghostface Playa made phonk faster and harder. Spotify's May 2021 official phonk playlist was nearly all drift phonk; Kordhell's 'Murder in My Mind' (2022) hit the Billboard Dance chart and UK Top 100, making him the first phonk artist in Spotify's top 500.
