History
Dream-Psych has roots in 1960s psychedelia, Spacemen 3, Galaxie 500, shoegaze, neo-psychedelia, and the dreamier side of 1980s/1990s indie. In the 2000s and 2010s, Animal Collective, Deerhunter, MGMT, Tame Impala, Beach House, Melody's Echo Chamber, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Temples, and Pond made dreamy psychedelic texture central to indie and festival culture. The style helped connect psych revival, chillwave, dream pop, and indie synth-pop, showing that psychedelia could be soft, pop-facing, and emotionally nostalgic rather than purely heavy or jam-based.
