Double-Time Rap

Double-time rap compresses syllables so flows feel like they move at twice the beat's apparent speed. It is related to chopper rap but broader, since not every double-time verse is a full sprint.

History

The lane developed through Midwest and Southern technique traditions, later spreading into mainstream flex rap and skill-showcase singles. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Twista, Busta Rhymes, Tech N9ne, Logic, JID, and others made fast articulation a recurring form of spectacle.
