Detroit Electro

Detroit Electro is the colder, machine-funk side of electro associated with Detroit techno's lineage: Kraftwerk futurism, Cybotron's urban electronics, aquatic Drexciya mythology, sci-fi basslines, and hard-edged drum programming. It is funkier than minimal techno but more mechanical and dystopian than 1980s party electro. The sound often feels like robots, submarines, highways, and circuitry moving with swing.
History
Detroit electro begins with Juan Atkins and Richard Davis as Cybotron, whose "Clear" linked electro and the coming techno sound. Model 500, Underground Resistance, Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, Aux 88, Ectomorph, DJ Stingray, Keith Tucker, DJ Godfather, Scan 7, and later Detroit-influenced producers built a deeper, darker language around machines, identity, and future-city myth. The style became one of the most important roots of modern electro revival.
