History

Forged at Palm Desert 'generator parties' — guitar bands powered by gas generators in the open desert — the scene revolved around Kyuss (Josh Homme, Brant Bjork, Nick Oliveri, John Garcia). Their 1992 Blues for the Red Sun and 1994 Sky Valley defined the warm bass-amp tone. Fu Manchu and post-Kyuss splinters (Brant Bjork, Hermano) spread it worldwide.
