A rap-forward strain of dembow that swaps sung hooks for dense, rapid-fire rhyming and battle-style bars delivered over the fast dembow riddim, blending hip-hop flow and freestyle culture with the pounding kick-snare-cowbell groove. History
As Dominican dembow matured, a wave of MCs steeped in rap and freestyle brought harder lyrical delivery to the riddim, giving rise to a rap-inflected dembow around the late 2010s.
