Delta Folk Blues is Delta material heard through the folk-revival frame: still acoustic, still guitar-centered, but often marketed to attentive seated audiences rather than rowdy dance spaces. The performances can sound slightly cleaner or more presentational, yet the Delta accent remains obvious.
History
The 1960s folk revival reintroduced Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, Bukka White, Skip James, Johnny Shines, and others to new audiences and labels. Albums such as Son House’s *Father of the Folk Blues* helped canonize Delta repertoire for revival listeners, creating a lane where Delta music circulated as acoustic art music without losing its regional core.
