Darksynth
Located in 2 routes
Darksynth is the heavy horror/cyberpunk branch of synthwave, built from distorted synth bass, metal-like riffs, slasher-film atmosphere, industrial drums, and neon dystopia. It is more aggressive than retrowave and more cinematic than ordinary electro-industrial, often using soundtrack drama as club impact. The sound feels like a chase scene, arcade cabinet, biker film, or occult sci-fi city.
History
Darksynth grew from synthwave, horror soundtracks, John Carpenter influence, industrial rock, metal, electro, and internet-era retro futurism. Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, GosT, Dance With the Dead, Mega Drive, Daniel Deluxe, Power Glove, Lazerhawk, Gunship, Scandroid, Nightcrawler, and Hollywood Burns shaped the canon through Bandcamp, YouTube, game culture, and festival slots. It overlaps with cyberpunk media and dark club scenes even when it remains outside traditional goth/industrial lineages.
