Dallas Blues leans on articulate guitar, busking-rooted toughness, and a city-ward version of Texas blues that sounds less swampy than some Southern styles and more pointed in its attack. The core image is a singer-guitarist cutting through noise with melodic lines sharp enough to earn coin on a street corner or a hotel-room session.

History

TSHA identifies Dallas as a key Texas recording hub in the 1920s, with Deep Ellum and Central Track functioning as vital Black cultural corridors. Blind Lemon Jefferson’s commercial success pulled southern musicians into the city, while T-Bone Walker’s early Dallas background helped set up later electric development; the city remained symbolically central to Texas blues even as Austin and Houston later dominated different eras.
