History
Crystalline new age emerged from the 1980s metaphysical and crystal-healing movements and the sacred wing of the genre, with Constance Demby (who built resonant metal instruments and made luminous long-form works) and Steven Halpern's tuned, bell-bright records as touchstones. Deuter's Nada Himalaya (1997) brought genuine Tibetan bells and chimes into the palette, and UK healing-music specialists such as Llewellyn and overtone/crystal-bowl artists like Jonathan Goldman supplied dedicated crystal and chakra catalogs. The lane persists strongly in wellness retail, crystal-shop ambiance and streaming "crystal healing" collections.
