History

The style grew from country rock, Nashville crossover, Laurel Canyon songwriting, and 1970s AM/AC radio's appetite for gentle rural imagery. Glen Campbell, John Denver, Eagles, Poco, Firefall, Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Rogers, Dan Fogelberg, and Anne Murray made country materials palatable to soft-rock and adult-contemporary audiences.
