Country Roots Rock is rock-band music that keeps country phrasing, twang, and songwriting central without tipping fully into country-rock classicism or alt-country austerity. It is usually brisk, hooky, and band-oriented, with enough dirt under the fingernails to stay credible in roots spaces.
History
The subgenre emerged from the long overlap among country rock, heartland rock, roots rock, and later Americana. It remains one of the most natural shared dialects between rock clubs and country-minded songwriters.
